Marco Solorio [OneRiver Media]Award-winning Post Production with ADAM Audio Monitors
ADAM UsersAs a next-generation media production company, OneRiver Media is at the forefront of the changes driving technological innovation in video production and audio post.
Its client list includes some of the world’s biggest brands; in this league, customers have the highest expectations. For Marco Solorio (founder of OneRiver Media and established in 1991), ADAM Audio speakers have helped the company operate at the highest professional levels. “ADAM Audio monitors help ensure that the mixing decisions we’re making are accurate, everywhere from silver screen theatrical releases to personal, low-quality ear buds”, Marco explained in a recent interview with ADAM Audio.
“It’s absolutely imperative to listen to our audio mixes on accurate monitoring technology […]. It is the audio monitor where final critical sonic decisions are made.”
Having worked in some of the world’s premier audio facilities, including Dolby Labs and Skywalker Sound, Marco saw that these facilities face the same challenges as his California-based studio: the diversity of playback systems from the most expensive theatrical soundstage to the mobile devices that have become the dominant playback platform in raw-number terms. “It’s absolutely imperative to listen to our audio mixes on accurate monitoring technology”, Marco explains. “It is the audio monitor where final critical sonic decisions are made.”
The core of OneRiver Media’s post-production operations is its “Hybrid Suite”. It’s a hub for OneRiver Media’s acclaimed services that encompass video editing, visual effects, finishing and all aspects of audio to picture work. All within one ergonomically tuned environment. This is a meticulously crafted environment that has seen many iterations of testing and adjustment; nothing is left to chance. The monitor of choice here is the ADAM Audio S2V. “I use them for their sonic accuracy combined with their DSP-powered tuning abilities,” Marco says. “On the affordable side, I also enjoy the T7V, which is a great secondary listening companion to our S2V monitors. The T Series is also a great way to affordably create an accurate surround sound-mixing environment without sacrificing quality. ADAM Audio has successfully created all product options for any monitoring requirements and budgets,” he concludes, after having tested the S2V, A7X, and T7V monitors in his facility, side by side [read the test report here].
Marco’s expertise has led him to develop a four-point list of criteria for what makes a good speaker: Mid-range accuracy, clarity in the high-frequency range, low-end presence and cost. “ADAM Audio hits all four of these critical points for me, while giving options at the price-point level with the T, AX and S Series. Combining all of that, I do not see any other professional studio monitor company pursuing this as aggressively as ADAM Audio is successfully doing.”
After first hearing ADAM Audio monitors at the Audio Engineering Society (AES) convention in 2004, Marco knew that they would play a big part in the development of his studio. “From that day forward, I wanted to have these German-engineered gems in my possession,” he recalls. “I absolutely love the tweeter technology, the mid-range clarity, and the low frequency presence these monitors provide.”
“Even at loud levels, they’ve never mentioned anything about ear fatigue, […] we sometimes crank up the level to really ‘feel’ the audio mix and the monitors still do not distort […].”
Feedback from his customers to the audio environment at OneRiver Media has been unanimously positive. “Even at loud levels, they’ve never mentioned anything about ear fatigue, which I know is because of the ADAM Audio ribbon tweeter technology. At the end of the day, we sometimes crank up the level to really ‘feel’ the audio mix and the monitors still do not distort, while immersing us into the mix. ADAM Audio truly delivers in all of this and I wouldn’t want it any other way.”
